If you are on my email list (and hopefully you are!) you have seen the announcements about my photography classes. Just in case you aren't, here's the list of all of the upcoming classes and links to register for them. If you are NOT getting the Snap Click Shoot emails or email newsletters from the studio and you would like to get them, please email me and we'll get you on the list. My email address is farrah@farrahbraniff.com

THIS WEEKEND! I am very, very excited about this event. It will be fun and casual and a great way to practice your new skills. If you have taken a class with me in the past then i would definitely recommend this! It's fine for new shooters too because we'll be learning as we walk. I am a little worried about rain but, in the event that we get rained out, we'll reschedule for another day soon. Let's all just think super positive thoughts. A little overcast would not be a bad thing but a downpour will be hard to work around. Here is the event info and sign up link:

Hello blog readers! I have a special request for you and your friends. I am in the process of writing a book and need some specific shots to fill out certain sections of the book. Here is what I am looking for:

3-4 girls (must be good friends) who would be wiling to pose in some shots together and apart. The shots would be taken outdoors in casual attire. The girls will need to be willing to get a little silly so super shy girls may not be the right fit for this. An ideal scenario would also include a great backyard, some cute bikes, popsicles, fun dress-ups or athletic gear. The ideal age range would be between 7-11.

A very, new newborn (between 8-15 days old) AND a open light-filled home with nice windows. A really cute, light and bright nursery would be a huge bonus!

Teenage girl who loves to have her picture taken and wants fun, personality-filled, outdoor location shots. A high school junior would be perfect (and you could use the images later for senior pictures!). The ideal girl would love fashion, not be too shy and have fun being a model for the day. The locations would probably be in and around downtown Houston. If she has a best friend who wants to join and be a part of the shoot that would be ok too!

Boys and/or girls who can sit up but who are NOT crawling yet and who are normally very smiley kids. This shoot would be done outside at various non-traditional, more urban locations (when we get a pretty not freezing day like today). The wardrobe for this shoot would be picked out in advance by the parent and myself (think: Baby Gap, funny t-shirts, hats, etc.).

Boys and/or girls who can sit up but who are NOT crawling yet and who are normally very smiley kids. This shoot would be done in your home. The ideal home would be bright and have large windows that we could sit next to while photographing.

Girl with RED hair and freckles, ages 6-18.

If you, or someone that you know, would be interested in modeling for me please email me some snapshots of your child and which category you want to volunteer them for. My contact info: (713) 255-2882 or farrah@farrahbraniff.com.

What do the models get in return? In return for being photographed and signing a model release, the models / families of models will receive a disc with my favorite 10 images from the session in hi-resolution. Yippppeeee!

Last weekend I had one of my digital photography classes at the studio and it was a big hit! I love teaching the class and seeing little light bulbs go off for people. It's like, "AHA! I can do this!". I have 3 more classes scheduled for this year.  The next one is in March and will also be a beginner's class. You can sign up here through EventBrite

For those of you who have taken the first class and want to go even further and learn more, I have an intermediate class on May 22, 2010. We'll be sending an EventBrite invite out through our email list. However, if you would like to go ahead and sign up now, please feel free to call the studio at (713) 255-2882.

Here's a little info about our beginner's class:

Would you like to hear what students have to say about the class?

"Thank you so very much for the fabulous class. I learned a lot and I can't wait to start practicing. The class exceeded my expectations and for the first time in my life, I feel like I know what to do with my camera. I loved the practicing during the class which really helped to remember what was being talked about in the class. You are an excellent teacher and one of the most talented photographers I have seen. I know your time is precious and I really appreciate it that you spent your valuable Saturday teaching us such useful information to help make us more successful and confident. Thank you for the great class!"

"I just wanted to let you know about a wonderful class Farrah Braniff offers.  I attended the one day class today and it was just what I was looking for!  The class was very informative and helpful, laid back, and most importantly, fun!  Farrah offered advice for both technical and non technical modifications you could start making right away in order to take better pictures and gave us an opportunity to go outside and practice some of the tips with our own cameras as the class went along.  She was patient in answering everyone's questions and had a great presentation prepared which also included advice on equipment and picture storage.  What I enjoyed most was the fact that I can start using the things she talked about today immediately which is very empowering!  In fact, I came home and took several shots of my kids playing that looked so much better than they would have yesterday without my new found knowledge...including that ever so popular shot where the kid is in focus, but the messy background is softly blurred and no longer distracting from the picture.  I'm so relieved to be able to shoot in something other than just auto...or to at least be able to start practicing doing so. I think Farrah offers the class again in another month or two, and I would highly recommend it!"

Kate Healy says: Hi, I heard about you from my sister (Amanda Garcia) who has gotten pictures taken of her two girls (Olivia & Sophia) and then I found out about your photography class. I have taken photography classes before, so I don't think I need the beginner's class, but how different is the beginner's class from your intermediate class? What is the date of the intermediate class? Thanks, Kate Healy (02.16.10 @ 03:19 PM)
December 30, 2009
I bet a few of you have wondered where I've been. My blogging has been terrible. I was so busy in November and December that something just had to give and, sadly, it was my blog. My very first new year's resolution is to get back in the swing though so I promise in 2010 I'll be back to posting regularly.

I am so grateful to my clients. Our holiday season was busy! When times are tough like they have been I can only say a sincere thank you to those that came and had their pictures made with me this year. I appreciate you all so very much. I started to compile a post that had my favorite images from 2009 but there were too many! So, instead, I thought I might break it up and just share some of my recent favorites with you.

Meet Castle and Ryder...

Shu_09.jpgOne of my favorite additions to the studio this year was my new blue wall. I love it and I LOVE these amazing little pigtails!

Sultando_09.jpgThese two were so much fun! They laughed at all of jokes too, who wouldn't love that?!

Brown09.jpgSometimes the serious face is even better than a big smile...

Cardosa_09.jpgThese two are just so beautiful together.

MM09.jpgI photographed these two crazy kids last year for their holiday card and we had so much fun doing it. Their parents are a joy to work with and the kids are hilarious. This year was awesome as well and I love so many images from their session.

Scott09.jpgI can't quite put my finger on what it is about this shot that I just love but I do. Just so sweet and peaceful...

Evans09.jpgAnd this outfit that makes me laugh because she looks like a little mime or something. Well, a mime with a big happy smile that is!

Feinb-09.jpgAnd there are just so many more but, for today, that is all. I am so excited about 2010. We're going to be having new photography classes (at least one per quarter), a new series of digital scrapbooking and graphic design products, some fun new promotions and a lot more. Now if I could only clone myself...

I hope you all have a great 2010!
