I have a nephew! Loudon was born on Friday morning around 6 am. We've been in Austin for the last few days welcoming the new arrival. He was 7 pounds 9 ounces and has dark blue eyes and a full head of dark brown hair.

It's so awesome to see my brother with his own little baby. I can't really find the right words. I love these two pictures- especially the one where he is doing the "shush". It's one of the very first things that you learn as a parent!

The boys came up with us today to meet their new cousin.

Finn stroked his little head and kept saying "hello Loudon!"

and Sayer with a not-too-happy looking Loudon...LOL!

Welcome to the world little Loudon!
That's right, Steven & I are disco stars! Check us out. Steven looks super hot in his little pink outfit too.
Okay, where are my previews?
I'm sure you're busy, I'll wait!

(10.29.07 @ 04:19 PM)Saturday afternoon Nana (my Mom) and I took the kids out to lunch and then for a dessert treat at Sugarbaby's. SB's is a new specialty cup cake place on Shepherd. I have heard great things about another place in town called The Cookie Jar, which we'll have to check out as well. So, here's our Sugarbaby's review...
They did a great job on the decor. It's really cute inside and they even have a room that you can rent for private parties, which I thought was a great idea.

The kids ran right in and headed straight for the case.

The lady at the counter was not very nice. She kept wiping where the kids had put their hands like they had some sort of disease. I mean, it's a cup cake place right? You're going to have kids in there and they're going to touch that case. Anyway, she gave me some bad attitude as well when I asked her is a particular cup cake was good. She answered me with a "if you like that kind of thing" answer...I'm kind of thinking she needs to go find a different job.
So, Sayer and Finn picked out chocolate cupcakes. Here's a little lesson from Sayer on how to eat a cup cake:

and from Finn (notice how Finn's lesson ends with a smashing of the remaining cup cake and a look of complete satisfaction at the job well done)

and the biggest lesson of the day...ain't it the truth!
Friday night we had Danny & Danise Clark and their kids over for a dinner play date. Danny brought the kids a gingerbread house to put together.

Sayer loved putting all the little candies on the house. He wanted it to look just like the picture on the box.
They had lots of fun with the black icing...

the eating went from civilized (picking the candies off one-by-one) to complete mayhem.

and the aftermath...
after dinner we had fun playing with our costume basket. Then the basket itself became a turtle costume.

Danny took pictures of Sayer taking pictures. A budding photographer perhaps?
The kids were worn out and they said a tearful goodbye to the Clark kids. Always a good time!
Wednesday night is my night alone with Finnian. Sayer and Daddy are off at swim lessons and Finn and I are on our own. This week we went to dinner and then to my photography club meeting. I have been going to this club for years and we all do a show together during Fotofest. I haven't been to a meeting in a while so it was nice to see everyone. First off, we headed to Central Market for some dinner. Finn loved the big bins of pumpkins. He was running around screaming (yes screaming) "pumpkins!" and "look, more pumpkins!".

The white pumpkins were the coolest

Then we stopped and had dinner. Finn loves to put raspberries on his fingers and eat them off one-by-one.

Then we headed off to the club meeting. Finn ate about a half of a sleeve of cookies and then, um, helped clean up...

Finally, he announced to everyone in the room that it was "time to leave" and "I go home now". I didn't get a chance to see everyone's cool new work or this cool book someone brought about Lee Friedlander but it was a nice time. Finn did take his first self portrait!
